MSU scientist to discuss pneumococcal pathogenesis ins, outs
Dr. Justin Thornton, associate professor of biological sciences at Mississippi State University, will present the Microbiology and Immunology Seminar, “The Ins and Outs of Pneumococcal Pathogenesis,” at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, in room 6A.

Harvard ophthalmologist to deliver Corbett Lecture on arteritis
Dr. Joseph Rizzo, David G. Cogan Professor of Ophthalmology in the field of neuro-ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and director of neuro-ophthalmology services at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary, will give the seventh annual James J. Corbett, M.D. Lectureship in Neuro-ophthalmology, “Diagnosis and Management of Giant Cell Arteritis,” at noon on Friday, Dec. 1, in lecture hall 124 of the School of Medicine.

Emory postdoc fellow to investigate late onset muscular dystrophy
Dr. Katherine Vest, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biology at Emory University, will give the Department of Biochemistry presentation, “Tales from the 3’end: Impaired RNA Processing and Metabolism in a Model of Late Onset Muscular Dystrophy,” at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, in classroom 3A.
